Scissor Practice

Today, we will practice using scissors. Scissors are a tool for snip-snip cutting paper. When you use them, always do it together with a grown-up. We do not run with them or point them at people.

🤔 When we use scissors, who should we use them with?

We hold scissors while sitting down. Put your thumb in the top hole. Put your other fingers in the bottom hole. Keep your thumb on top and try opening and closing them.

Now, let’s try cutting paper. Open and close the scissors: snip, snip, snip. It’s okay not to hurry. Let’s move slowly along the line, snip-snip. Keep the hand holding the paper away from the scissors.

🤔 When you cut slowly, it is easier to follow the line. Where are you cutting now?

You did it! You cut the paper. When you are done using scissors, close them with a click. Put the scissors in their case or in their special place. Gather the paper scraps and clean up. Let’s practice slowly again another time.
