The Panda Who Couldn’t Climb a Tall Tree
Even if you can’t do things the same way as others, it’s okay to find a way that works for you
💬 Everyone Goes Up the Tree
On a big tree in the forest, delicious-looking fruits were growing. Monkey and Squirrel climbed up the tree quickly and picked the fruit. Little Panda wanted some fruit too. “I want to try climbing too.”
🤔 Everyone can climb the tree. How do you think Panda feels as he watches them?
💬 He Can’t Climb, and Feels Sad
Little Panda tried to climb. Up he went, step by step. But—slip! He couldn’t climb well. No matter how many times he tried, he couldn’t get very high. Little Panda felt sad and thought, “Everyone else can do it, but I’m the only one who can’t...”
🤔 When there is something we can’t do, we may feel sad. What would you like to say to Panda?
💬 He Thought of a Different Way
Little Panda thought for a little while. “If I can’t climb the tree, I’ll look for another way!” Little Panda found a long stick. Then he attached a basket to the end of the stick. He stretched it up high... and plop! The fruit fell into the basket!
🤔 Panda thought of a way besides climbing the tree. What do you think is amazing about that?
💬 It’s Okay to Use a Way That Works for You
His friends were surprised. “Panda, that’s amazing! There was a way to do it like that!” Everyone shared the fruit and ate it with happy smiles. Little Panda thought, “It’s okay if I can’t do things the same way as everyone else. I just need to find a way that works for me.”
🤔 It was okay even though it wasn’t the same way everyone else did it. When you have trouble, what kind of idea would you like to try?
