Everyone’s Secret Base

The forest children made a secret base together. “Wow, it’s wonderful!” “Let’s all play here together!” The secret base has toys and picture books, and it looks like so much fun.

🤔 If you went into the secret base, which toy would you like to play with?

But after a little while, a problem happened. Little Bear said, “I’m going to play with the train first!” Bunny said too, “I want to use it right now too!” At the entrance, everyone tried to go in all at once, and it became very crowded. The building blocks they had used were still left on the floor.

🤔 What do you think happens when everyone wants to use the same toy at the same time?

So everyone gathered in front of the secret base. Squirrel said, “Let’s decide on some rules so everyone can have fun playing.” Teacher Owl also said gently, “When there is a problem, it’s good to talk instead of shouting.” Everyone thought together and decided on three rules. First, wait for your turn. Second, put things back where they belong after using them. Third, when you don’t like something, say kindly, “Please stop,” or “Please lend it to me later.”

🤔 What kind of rules do you think would help everyone have fun playing in the secret base?

The next day, everyone played while following the rules they had decided on. After Little Bear plays with the train, it is Bunny’s turn next. The building blocks they finish playing with go back into the toy box. “Thank you for lending it to me.” “Here you go, it’s your turn next.” When everyone followed the rules they decided together, there were fewer quarrels. The secret base became a place where everyone could play with happy smiles.
