The Cleanup Robot’s Problem
Putting things back where they belong after using them, and how everyone can feel good when we clean up together
💬 The Robot That Cleans Up Anything
There was a cleanup robot at kindergarten. When the robot found toys scattered around, it quickly cleaned them up. “Leave it to me! I’ll make everything shiny and neat!” Everyone was so happy because they could play a lot.
🤔 What kinds of toys is the robot cleaning up?
💬 So Many Things Left Out
But even after everyone finished playing, they left the toys just as they were. The blocks rolled around on the floor. The picture books were left open. The crayons were scattered across the table too. The robot was very busy all by itself.
🤔 Where should toys really go after we finish playing with them?
💬 The Robot Can’t Move!
At last, the room became full of toys. “Oh no... I can’t move!” So many toys had gathered around the robot’s feet. Everyone was surprised. “Robot, it must have been hard to clean up all by yourself.”
🤔 How do you think the robot feels? What can everyone do to help?
💬 Put Things Back Where They Belong
Then everyone thought about it. “Let’s put the things we use back where they belong by ourselves!” Blocks go in the block box. Picture books go on the bookshelf. Crayons go in the crayon case. When everyone cleaned up together, the room became nice and tidy! The robot and all the children were smiling.
🤔 At home or at kindergarten, what things can you put back where they belong after using them?
