My 2-year-old found an empty box I had set aside while planning to clean up.
To an adult, it was just a box, but to a child, it seemed like a brand-new room.
One moment they had put one foot inside, and the next, their whole body was tucked right in.
Lately, whether it is a basket or a box, if they find something they might fit into, they always climb in.

🤔 Has your child ever become absorbed in something that was not a toy?

After playing happily in the box for a while, the child suddenly looked over at us.
Then, patting the floor with their small hand, they said,
“Daddy, you come in here too.”
No matter how you looked at it, that space was made for one 2-year-old.

💬 An Invitation from Inside the Small Box

After playing happily in the box for a while, the child suddenly looked over at us. Then, patting the floor with their small hand, they said, “Daddy, you come in here too.” No matter how you looked at it, that space was made for one 2-year-old.

Plenty of reasons to say no came to mind.
It was cramped, his legs seemed likely to fall asleep, and the box looked like it might creak a little.
Even so, seeing the child’s expectant face, Daddy slowly climbed in.
Even though he was mostly sticking out, the child looked extremely satisfied.

🤔 Have you ever found yourself joining in with your child’s “Do it with me,” even if it meant taking an awkward position?

After just a few minutes, Daddy’s legs had reached their limit.
Once he got out of the box, the child was already absorbed in the next game.
But being invited into that tiny box with a “Daddy too” stayed with him in a strangely happy way.
A child’s world may seem small, but when they invite a parent in, it feels much wider than expected.
